Sip This

Lemon and water are a match made in heaven... I’ve started drinking it every day and feel more energized than ever. After learning about the slew of health benefits associated with drinking water and freshly squeezed lemon juice, I decided to make it a part of my daily diet. Lemons are packed with natural vitamins and minerals that are key to your inner and outer beauty regime as well as your general health.

Here are three reasons why you should pair hot water with lemons ladies:
  1. It’s a natural energizer! It hydrates and oxygenates the body so it feels revitalized and refreshed.
  2. It’s cleansing. According to NaturalNews.com, the citric acid in lemons helps maximize enzyme function, which stimulates the liver and aids in detoxification.
  3. It aids in digestion. Not only will this killer combination relive indigestion, it will also help flush you out.

Beauty Buzz

Looking to smooth your neck?
Your neck appears saggy with vertical and horizontal lines (called banding), and red spots
that are most likely due to years of sun exposure.

At home advice: There's not much you can do for banding, sagging and redness caused by dilated blood vessels due to sun damage.  We advice using sunscreen and collagen-stimulated products.

Derm solutions:  To reduce deep lines that run from the jaw to the clavicle, Dysport works really well.  For sagging, Dr. Clemons first paralyzes the neck muscles with Dysport injections followed by an Ulthera treatment one week later to "heat the deeper layers of skin," he says.  To reverse pigment, some doctors will combine IPL and CORE resurfacing.  Two to three treatments yields the best results.

Anti-Age Yourself

WHAT CAUSES AGING?

Like death and taxes, aging is something we all go through eventually–nips, tucks, Spinning classes, and green juices notwithstanding. And yet you can keep the effects of aging at arm's length, enjoying many more vibrant, healthy years looking fabulous than generations before. The question is not, How will I age? but, How much can I slow it down? From exercise and diet to supplements and brain training, here are the most effective ways to hold back the hands of time.
First, let's ID the enemy. Scientists are continuing to isolate the main causes of aging (beyond the mere passage of time), and keeping each one in mind as you make daily choices will make a world of difference.
TO START, THERE'S OXIDATION
which occurs when too many free radicals (a normal by-product of metabolism) go unchecked, leading to stressed tissues and weakened organs. Think of oxidation as a bit like rust on a bike. Without proper intervention–like antioxidants–free radicals can make your system rather worn-out and creaky.
NEXT, INFLAMMATION
particularly the whole-body, low-level inflammation that is associated with heart disease, mental decline, and arthritis. Excess weight, stress, and poor diet can all cause inflammation.
THIRD, GLYCATION
a process wherein sugar molecules attach to protein molecules, resulting in damaged, more inflexible tissue. This can not only lead to wrinkles but also hamper the working of internal organs.
FINALLY, LOOK TO YOUR DNA
Specifically, to the very tips of each strand, called telomeres. Emerging science (which garnered the Nobel Prize in 2009) has found a link between short telomere length and increased signs of aging. (Each time a cell divides, the telomeres erode further.) Many factors can hasten the shortening process, but a few habits can help keep strands long and strong.

7 Habits for a Happier& Healthier You; Take the Wellness Week Pledge

Most of us regularly strive to be the very best version of ourselves, but sometimes it’s hard to remember exactly how on a daily basis. To help you put one foot in front of the other, and to kick off Wellness Week, March 19-25, Spa Finder has announced The Wellness Week Pledge – 7 Habits for a Healthier, Happier You. We’re giving you super-simple ways to commit to your wellbeing.
The Pledge: I pledge to take charge of my health by taking these simple yet vital steps toward a happier and healthier life. By committing to achieve at least one of these activities each day of Wellness Week™, I will make taking care of myself a priority, enabling me to do more, stay healthy and live a longer, more vibrant and meaningful life.

I pledge to:

Change my breakfast: I will kick off my day with a healthy meal that includes foods like oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, seeds, nuts and whole-grain cereals and toast.

Choose to move: I will walk more by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further from the store or taking a desk break to go for a five-minute stroll.

Hydrate: I will drink a glass of water before breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Connect with nature: I will walk outside, breathe more deeply and enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes each day.

Make my sleep a priority: I will build boundaries around my sleep by sticking to a set bedtime, and by not eating or working in bed.

Embrace the power of touch: I will recharge myself and others through the simple act of giving or receiving a hug, foot rub or five-minute massage.

Give myself the gift of silence: I will find 10 minutes a day away from screens of any type — phone, TV or computer and enjoy the quiet.

We hope you can take the Wellness Week Pledge!  Visit www.Renovusbeauty.com for more information about how our services can help with your wellness week pledge!

Join us in a day of giving at the spa

Miranda Johnson, a bright vicarious nursing student, lost her leg and severely injured her hip in a boating accident on Boone Lake last summer.  She is trying to resume her studies in nursing school, but is having severe physical problems.  Miranda needs a prosthetic leg to be able to function in her nursing training, but insurance is not covering this need and she has been unable to raise enough money to purchase one.  With the help of the community, we are going to try and help her reach this goal.  On Thursday, March 15th from 10am until 8pm, you can donate $100 to her needs and enter to a raffle where will award 6 lucky people a years worth of spa services in addition, 20% of proceeds from all services purchased that day will also go towards her fund.  Please join us and help her fund.  Please join us and help her continue towards her goal of service to others through her medical career.  Let's reward her courage and refusal  to give in to adversity.  We hope to see everyone on Thursday!
